Search Liberty County Property Values, Owners & Tax Accounts
Liberty County property research uses two separate systems. The Liberty County Central Appraisal District determines property values, exemptions and agricultural appraisal and provides the parcel search. The Liberty County Tax Assessor-Collector handles the actual tax bill, payments, delinquent balances and receipts.
Start with Liberty CAD when you need the owner, address, Property ID, Geographic ID, legal description or appraised value. Move to the Tax Office when you need the amount due or payment history.
How to Search Liberty County CAD Property Records
The Liberty CAD eSearch system gives users several ways to locate real property. Do not enter every field at once; begin with the strongest information you already know.
Use the official Liberty CAD Property Search.
Select Owner, Address, ID or Advanced depending on the information you have.
If you know the owner, try the full name first. If nothing appears, reduce the search to only the most distinctive first or last name.
Compare situs address, legal description, subdivision and owner information before using the value.
Liberty CAD identifies each account with a Property ID. This is normally the fastest identifier for future CAD searches.
Use the Tax Office search for current tax bills, prior tax payments, receipts and delinquent amounts.
Liberty County Property Search by Owner Name
The CAD’s Owner tab is the easiest route when you know who owns the property but do not know the address or account number.
Best owner-name method
- Enter first and last name.
- If there is no match, use only the first or last name.
- Use the more unusual name when possible.
- Try spacing variations such as “Mc Donald.”
- Compare all matching property addresses.
Owner is a business?
Open Advanced Search and enter the business under the Doing Business As field.
If the complete business name does not work, shorten the search to a distinctive part of the company name.
Liberty County Property Search by Address
Address searches work best when you simplify the address rather than copying every mailing abbreviation.
| If this search fails… | Try this | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Complete street address | Street number + street name | Removes formatting differences. |
| Address with Road / Lane / Drive | Remove the street type | Liberty CAD recommends simplifying the address. |
| Number + street still fails | Search only the street name | Returns more possible matches. |
| Rural property has no useful address | Use Property ID, Geographic ID or map | Rural tracts often search better by parcel identifier. |
| New deed but old information | Verify deed with County Clerk | CAD updates can take time to appear online. |
How to Read a Liberty CAD Property Record
| Field | What it means | What to do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Property ID | Liberty CAD’s unique account identifier. | Save it; CAD says this is the quickest way to locate a property. |
| Geographic ID | Parcel/geographic identifier connected with the property. | Useful when matching map and tax records. |
| Type | Property-account category. | Helps distinguish real, personal or other account types. |
| Situs Address | Physical location of the property. | Verify that you opened the correct parcel. |
| Map ID | CAD mapping reference. | Useful for GIS and parcel-map research. |
| Legal Description | Tax-record description of the property. | Useful for identification; use the deed for legal reliance. |
| Abstract / Subdivision | Survey, abstract or subdivision associated with the tract. | Important for rural land and subdivision research. |
| Neighborhood | Appraisal neighborhood/group used by the district. | Can help when comparing similar properties. |
| Owner ID / Owner | Owner carried on the appraisal record. | Useful for tax research; verify legal title by deed. |
| Mailing Address | Address used for property communications. | Check it if notices are not reaching you. |
| Market / Appraised Value | Value established through the appraisal process. | Use for appraisal and protest analysis. |
| Exemptions | Approved homestead or other exemptions. | Verify expected exemptions before tax bills are issued. |
Liberty County CAD Interactive Parcel Map
Liberty CAD provides a GIS Interactive Map from its official website. It is especially useful for vacant acreage, rural tracts, subdivision research and properties without an obvious street address.
Go to LibertyCAD.com.
Use the GIS map link displayed on the CAD home page.
Use the property information you obtained from eSearch to identify the tract.
When exact boundaries or acreage matter, compare GIS with recorded deed, plat and survey information.
Liberty County 2026 Appraisal Status
This matters because the appraisal phase and the tax-billing phase are different. Certified appraisal values are sent to the taxing units so they can adopt 2026 tax rates and produce tax bills later in the year.
2026 Liberty County Tax Rates: What Is Available Now?
Do not calculate a final 2026 property-tax bill from an older year’s tax rates. As of August 2026, Liberty County’s Tax Office rate page still displays the adopted 2025 tax rates.
Use 2026 Appraised Value For
- Checking valuation
- Confirming exemptions
- Comparing prior appraisal years
- Planning an estimated tax range
Wait for Adopted 2026 Rates For
- Final county tax
- Final school tax
- City tax
- Emergency service district tax
- Drainage / water / hospital district tax
How to Search Liberty County Property Taxes
The Liberty County Tax Office uses a separate search with more tax-focused fields than the appraisal system.
| Tax Office search field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Account Number | Enter the account number exactly as shown on the tax statement, including dashes when required. |
| Owner Name | Enter last name followed by first name or first initial. |
| Mailing Address | Search the owner’s tax-mail address. |
| Owner ID | Useful when the owner identifier is already known. |
| Property Address | Use street number + street name and omit street type/direction if needed. |
| Appraisal District Number | Useful when transferring an identifier from appraisal records. |
| Statement Number | Search from a tax statement when available. |
| Legal Description | Useful for rural land or when address information is insufficient. |

Liberty County 2026 Property Value Protest
If you did not file during the normal period, do not submit a standard protest and assume it will be accepted. Texas law allows certain late protests or appraisal-roll correction procedures in limited situations.
Possible late-protest situations
- Failure to receive a legally required notice
- Good-cause late protest in an eligible situation
- Residence homestead substantially over-appraised under a correction provision
- Non-homestead property substantially over-appraised under a correction provision
- Specific clerical or ownership errors
Best next step in August 2026
Call Liberty CAD at 936-336-5722, explain exactly what is wrong, and ask which post-certification correction or late-protest option—if any—applies to the account.

Liberty County 2026 Homestead Exemption
Residence homestead exemptions are filed with Liberty CAD—not with the Tax Assessor-Collector.
Normal application timing
Most exemption applications are normally due no later than April 30.
The regular 2026 deadline has therefore passed.
Late homestead filing
Texas law allows qualifying residence homestead applications, including age-65-or-older and disabled-person applications, to be filed late within the applicable statutory period.
Age 65 or Older & Disabled Homeowner Relief
Additional School Exemption
Texas requires school districts to provide an additional $60,000 residence homestead exemption for qualifying homeowners age 65 or older or disabled.
Tax Ceiling
Qualifying age-65-or-older or disabled homeowners can also receive school-tax limitation protections under Texas law.
Four Installments
Liberty County permits qualifying over-65 or disabled homestead taxpayers to request four current-tax installments without penalty or interest when statutory requirements are met.
| Quarter payment | Normal due date |
|---|---|
| First ¼ | January 31 |
| Second ¼ | March 31 |
| Third ¼ | May 31 |
| Final ¼ | July 31 |
Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemptions
Texas provides several disabled-veteran exemptions, and the benefit depends on disability rating and the particular exemption provision.
100% Disabled Veteran
A qualifying veteran awarded 100% disability compensation for a service-connected disability and rated 100% disabled or individually unemployable can qualify for a total exemption on the residence homestead.
Other Disabled Veterans
Partial exemptions can apply according to disability rating, and certain surviving spouses can also qualify under Texas law.
Liberty County Agricultural & Timber Appraisal
Qualifying land used for agriculture or timber production can receive special appraisal based on productivity rather than ordinary market value.
1-d-1 Open-Space
Common Texas agricultural appraisal for qualifying land with the required agricultural-use history and current qualifying use.
Timber
Qualifying timberland can be appraised under specialized Texas productivity-value rules.
Wildlife Management
Qualifying land already receiving open-space appraisal may be eligible to continue special appraisal under wildlife-management rules.
June 2026 Liberty County Storm Damage & Property Tax Relief
Liberty County was included in the Texas Governor’s June 15, 2026 disaster declaration covering severe storms that began June 14 and included heavy rain, flash flooding, dangerous wind, large hail and tornado threats.

Change Your Liberty CAD Mailing Address
If appraisal notices or tax-related correspondence are going to the wrong address, use the appraisal district’s official change-of-address process.
The Liberty CAD online request asks for the account or Owner ID, owner name, contact information, old address and new address.
Liberty CAD Owner Record vs Recorded Deed
The appraisal record is useful for quickly identifying the taxpayer and parcel. The Liberty County Clerk maintains the official real-property documents.
| If you need… | Use… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Owner shown by CAD | Liberty CAD Property Search | Fast parcel/tax ownership research. |
| Recorded deed | County Clerk Official Public Records | Shows the actual recorded transfer instrument. |
| Recorded mortgage / deed of trust | County Clerk | Requires recorded-document research. |
| Recorded lien | County Clerk | Not reliably established by an appraisal screen alone. |
| Plat / subdivision document | County Clerk records | Use recorded documents for legal parcel research. |
| Exact property boundary | Survey + recorded records | CAD GIS is not a professional boundary survey. |

Yes. Select the Owner tab in Liberty CAD eSearch. Start with the first and last name; if no result appears, Liberty CAD recommends simplifying the search to only the most distinctive first or last name.
3. Who is the Liberty County Tax Assessor-Collector in 2026?
Richard Brown is the Liberty County Tax Assessor-Collector. His office handles property-tax billing and collection. Property appraisal is performed separately by Liberty County Central Appraisal District.

6. When are Liberty County 2026 property taxes due?
Texas property-tax bills are generally mailed around October 1. The normal last day to pay without delinquency is January 31. Because January 31, 2027 falls on Sunday, Texas weekend rules permit timely payment on Monday, February 1, with delinquency beginning Tuesday, February 2, unless the bill shows a later date.
7. How much is the Texas school homestead exemption in 2026?

Potentially yes. The normal exemption deadline is April 30, but Texas law allows certain residence homestead applications to be filed late. Contact Liberty CAD for the application and applicable tax-year deadline.
